What we actually talk about in the sauna

Real conversations from real sessions.

Something happens when you take away the phones and turn up the heat.

People actually talk to each other. Not small talk about the weather or what you do for work. Real stuff. The kind of conversations that usually only happen late at night or on long road trips.

We've been noticing it since day one and we're still a little surprised by it every time.

Here's the thing about chatting in the sauna.

When you're in the sauna at Offline, you are fully present. You're not scrolling and half listening. You're just there, sweating it out with whoever else is in the room, and somehow that loosens people up a bit.

We've heard it all. Career pivots that are not fully thought through. Travel plans. Life decisions people have been sitting on for months. Long time friends gabbing about their weeks like they've got hours to kill. Someone's deeply held opinion about the best pizza in Calgary (Pizza Face and Noble Pie are a tie for me). A twenty minute debate about whether cold plunge is actually good for you or just something people do to feel tough. Two total strangers becoming fast friends with an opener as easy as "I love your bathing suit, where's it from?"

Through all of this, what we've noticed is that the sauna is one of the last places where people still just... talk.

No agenda, no screens, no background noise to fill the silence. Just people in a room being human together. It sounds simple because it is. And in a world where that keeps getting harder, we think that's kind of everything.

And of course, our all time favourite conversation topic?

Hearing someone ask, "sooo how did you hear about Offline?"

Come add your story to the mix. Book a social session and we'd love to see you soon.
